How did it begin?
The Tech Angels programme began in 2001 with the Tech Angels led by Jenny Chee and Phillipa Bedford. They monitored the school computer rooms and ensured the
equipment and network. In 2002, the role of the Tech Angels at Wellington Girls' College increased in profile when they began to mentor the staff and make other
contributions to the school and wider community. In return, Tech Angels are given training and opportunities to further their "people-skills" by developing their
relationships with peers, teachers and people outside the college. Read more about their roles within the school and their achievements by using the tooldar on

The Tech Angels are organised and led by Raewyn Baldwin-Denton, the ICT Project Manager at Wellington Girls' College. They meet once a week to discuss upcomming
training courses, conferences and how their teacher training has been going. The 2004 Tech Angels are lead by Head Tech Angel Charlotte Basher and Deputy Head Tech
Angel Rasha Ardarti. The collective group of girls is organised into three different areas, those who mentor teachers, those who assist with the upkeep of the
school's servers, and those girls below Year Thirteen who make up the Junior Tech Angels.
The Work of Tech Angels?
Throughout their time as a tech angel, all the girls involved in the programme actively use their skills in their school work and in their spare time. While the
girls attend courses they produce high quality work using the programs they are training in. Below is a collection of this work and other projects worked on by
the Tech Angels and the Junior Tech Angels.
Flash webpages and animations
Charlotte Basher Head Tech Angel 2004 - has created and directed the movie,
256 Shades of Gray.
A course was run for all Tech Angels in the second week of the Term 1 - 2 holidays. The girls all enjoyed it and produced some lovely animated flash and basic
flash navigation for webpages. Check out their work at
